We acknowledge and respect that the swing dance and Jazz music we love comes from African American culture. We are deeply grateful to be able to experience the joy that Collegiate Shag and Lindy Hop has given us.

We continue to educate ourselves about the history and social context from which Collegiate Shag, Lindy hop and jazz music grew, and in which it exists today, because that understanding helps us to honor and celebrate the roots of the dance.
